Current records involve several evidence tracks: a United Kingdom recall, published U.S. complaints, manufacturer warnings, and a broader CPSC warning about heating and poorly identified squishy toys.

Start with the package
Look for: the brand and exact product name; the manufacturer, importer or distributor; the retailer or marketplace seller; an item, model, UPC, SKU, lot or batch code; the age grade and safety warnings; and the country where the toy was purchased.
Photograph the toy and every side of the package before discarding anything. A smiling dumpling face or cube shape is not enough to establish identity.
Water-bead squishy toys named in U.S. notices
Most of these toys look alike: a translucent dumpling with a cartoon face, glitter and water beads, packed in a tan plastic container shaped like a bamboo steamer. The product itself usually has no markings, so use the removable package label, the seller and where you bought it. Each notice below applies only to its own product.

These notices cite a mandatory safety standard. That describes the rule the products failed, not who started the recall. RMS, NeeDoh and other toys are not covered unless they match a notice. These are U.S. actions and are separate from the UK recall below.
Basket-style Squeezy Dumplings sold in the UK
The United Kingdom's Office for Product Safety and Standards recalled a product described as a single soft plastic polymer dumpling in a plastic basket-style pot. Samsons Cash and Carry Ltd was identified as the distributor. The official notice says the product and packaging have no batch number or other identifier. UK testing found 20 milligrams per kilogram of benzene in the outer layer. Regulators advised owners to stop using the product and keep it away from children.
This is an official recall for the identified UK product. It is not a recall of every dumpling-shaped squishy. The recall notice does not establish that RMS dumplings, NeeDoh products or other look-alikes contain benzene.

RMS Crazy Fun or Rainbow Mystery Squishy Dumplings
Published U.S. consumer reports identify RMS International USA dumpling toys sold at Five Below. Two reports reviewed by Take Notice describe the toys rupturing during play and alleged skin injuries. The published summaries do not state that the toys were heated.
These are consumer complaints. Their publication does not mean CPSC confirmed the cause, tested the products or determined that a defect exists. The UK benzene result should not be attached to an RMS toy without evidence that the products are identical.
Some U.S. recalls involve toys also sold as “Rainbow Mystery” squishy buns, imported by OKK Trading and Toyworld168. Those recalls name those importers, not RMS. An RMS toy is not recalled unless it matches a notice.

Schylling NeeDoh
Current Schylling product pages warn users not to heat, freeze or microwave NeeDoh products because doing so may cause injury. A published SaferProducts report identifies a blue NeeDoh cube made by Schylling. The consumer reported that the toy was left in a hot car, leaked and burned a 13-year-old child who received emergency-department treatment.
That is a consumer allegation about a named product and a stated hot-car condition. It is not a CPSC defect finding and it does not establish the experience of every NeeDoh product. Take Notice also has other named NeeDoh complaint records involving different products and circumstances. They must remain attached to the exact identity and use condition described in each report.

An unbranded or unknown squishy toy
CPSC warns consumers about fake and counterfeit squishy toys that may lack required testing, warnings, age grading, tracking information or manufacturer identification. The agency advises consumers to avoid or stop using a squishy toy when the manufacturer is unknown, required safety information is missing, the toy has a strong chemical odor, feels oily or unusually sticky, leaks, tears easily or shows deterioration.
CPSC said it had identified 55 shipments of violative squishy toys at U.S. ports and prevented 355,683 units from entering the country. Those figures describe category-level enforcement. The agency did not publish a complete product list for those shipments.

Another named squishy or stress toy
Do not force it into one of the groups above. Use the name, brand, seller, retailer, package and codes to SPLAT the exact toy. Take Notice may already have information about it, or the SPLAT may begin an identity and evidence review.
A similar shape can help with a search. It cannot carry another product's complaint, recall or test result.

UK authorities have also issued product-specific reports involving squishy toys. Match the named product and identifier; the UK actions do not make every similar toy subject to a US recall.

These reports are separate from the US recalls and warning above. The counterfeit NeeDoh report concerns fake products, not authentic Schylling NeeDoh, and none of these reports name RMS products.
Rules that apply across the category
CPSC says never to microwave or intentionally heat squishy toys. It also warns against leaving them in hot cars, prolonged sunlight, near heaters or on other hot surfaces. Stop using a toy that is torn, punctured, leaking, sticky, unusually soft, discolored or deteriorating. Keep released material away from children.
If a heated or ruptured toy contacts the skin, follow current medical guidance. CPSC advises cool running water for at least 20 minutes for a burn, no ice, a nonstick sterile dressing after cooling and cleaning, and medical attention for a severe burn, a burn involving a young child or signs of infection.
These category instructions do not mean every squishy toy has been recalled.
